What definitions are in place in your life?

It has been quite a while since my last blog.

I want to continue our conversation on what it is like in the beginning stages of understanding or accepting your psychic or clairvoyant abilities.  The first steps in opening ourselves up to our intuitive side starts with definitions.

Understanding what certain “trigger” words mean to you can and will affect how you accept yourself and the process of tapping in or even listening to the messages you receive.  Many of us are unaware of the personal definitions we have put on so many different terms or words.

Curious to what I am talking about or where I am going with this?  Well let’s start out together.  Grab your notebook and jot down these words (leave space after each one to write a definition):

  • Psychic
  • Clairvoyant
  • Intuitive
  • Acceptance
  • Deserving
  • Permission
  • Selfish
  • Wealth
  • Happiness
  • Success

Now the tricky part it to actually spend some time writing out what those mean to you.  Not what Wikipedia or the Webster dictionary say they mean.  Not yet at least.  Write down what they mean to you, and add how they make you feel.  Go ahead and take some time to do this, once completed continue reading.

Were you surprised at what you discovered?  I know that I was, when I did this exercise myself.  It was one of those Ah ha moments.  Took me a while to really see the connection but when I did it revealed a lot.  How was I ever going to get from point A to point Z if my own belief system was not intact?  Let’s look at the word happiness for a moment.  This was something that (took a while to uncover for me) surprised me.  In writing out my definition and how it made me feel of this word I realized somewhere along my life (either this life time or another) I believed that happiness was not connected to money.  I got to this because each time I thought about what happiness was or meant to me I heard this quote, over and over.  “Money doesn’t buy happiness.  Money doesn’t buy love.”  The two things I want the most in my life were connected with this saying.  Even though I was not even focusing on the word money, in a negative way it was attached to the words love and happiness.

Subconsciously what do you think I am doing?  Sabotaging my own intentions. Setting in stone a belief that was not even intended. You see every time I would try to focus on love or happiness I would subconsciously be telling myself that money was no good or would not give it to me. I would have to have one or another.  Going deeper I realized this with the word Success as well.

Now on a spiritual level, say you are wanting to tap more into your intuition or your psychic abilities.  Depending on your personal definitions of those words (and many others) you may be sending mixed messages and blocking your own personal growth.  We can retrain our thoughts.  We can work on creating a definition that is more in line with our personal belief system and not that of our environment.  So many of our younger years are spent being molded and taught other peoples views and values.  I am not saying this is bad, I am saying however that as adults we need to give ourselves permission to evaluate those views.  Ask tough questions, are they ours or someone else?

Till next time!
Namaste~
